You’re on the right track imo but just a few things

You’d likely need to add a small bit more in that TOR deal. It’s very close though

Dickinson and Honka are overpaid

I think if Honka was added it would round out nicely.

They just made a conference finals 3 years ago and have made the playoffs 7 of the last 8 seasons, they've been here for a while

Blues have only missed playoffs 9 times, and once in the past 8 years. With multiple 2nd Round+ goes over the past 4 years. We didn't come out of nowhere. We just had a few young guns who weren't ready yet that finally became ready, and it worked well. People just didn't expect it. And we also didn't come out of nowhere because people were saying we would win Western Conference before the season when we got O'Reilly.

Think we had this discussion earlier before the season started about the blues being cup contenders. Last place t cup champs, it’s no shocker, they needed some goaltending and got it.

I think that was the main reason we were falling off the planet. Johnson is no Hutton, and Allen is no Binnington. Which is pretty much has solidified why we won a cup.

Going to have to say no. Appears zaitsev May have a Bit of value. Mid pick, prospect mid pick and bottom pair rhd. Completely flexible on taking less than that as I’m not sure dubas can pull in that haul. Still leaves this deal quite short.

I think kappy needs to be moved for a top 4 RHD (with additional assets)

Honka and a 4th for zaitsev seems fair to me,wasn’t expecting that much before. You don’t have the pieces for kappy. Unless there is something we can get for kappy to flip for an rhd. I think both players would be a good fit for the stars. Zaitsev especially if johns is out. Which unfortunately may be the case.

For the record, I'm a leafs fan. The way I was evaluating it is this; Kapanen returns at least a 2nd due to offersheet compensation, lets call it just the 2nd for now. That leaves Zaitsev for Mascherin and then add Honka. It doesn't have the added pick but Mascherin is a higher level of prospect than I'd expect, although personally looking at his numbers I like what I see.

No we don't have to move Kapanen in this kind of deal but for the sake of talent evaluation I provided my opinion.

I think he's at least a 3rd pairing dman, and that there is untapped potential. If you think he has no value then that is fine, that is your opinion.

Offersheet compensation is a 1st and a 3rd.... and there aren’t any coming...

Have a look at this

In this ACGM scenario and in 99% of other ACGM scenarios Kapanen is not given enough to qualify for a 1st and a 3rd as offersheet compensation.

Yeah I saw that it was you, I saw that you made no trades or signings, and I read your description. What's your point.

Leafs can match any offersheet they choose to.

If Dallas isn't looking to re-sign him, and he didn't play at all during playoffs how can you say he is a 3rd pairing d-men?

First I have heard they aren't looking to re-sign him. Still doesn't mean he isn't a 3rd pairing dman though.

although you can't call him a third pairing guy considering he was a healthy scratch all the way through Playoffs.
