I think you’re awfully generous with this list.

It’s just candidates. Not locks. Who do you have an issue with in particular?

Weber, Kovalchuk, Suter are probably nos. Getzlaf, Marleau, Stamkos, Hedman, and Backstrom are close but still far from locks. Everyone else I agree is a hall of famer

No way kovelchuk gets in. If majority are canadites I guess it’s fine but I still wouldn’t put in suter backstrom fleury, getzlaf, Marleau

He’s at 0.5 GPG in the NHL, only stamkos and ovi have higher his career span, lots of people will write him off for the years he was in the KHL but he was actually a great player in the NHL

Also gold medal winner and first Russian player drafted 1st overall, I think he will make it in the end

Kovalchuk probably won’t get in but I think he should be talked about. .5 GPG, only ovechkin and stamkos have more in his career span, 1st overall pick. He will be written off by a lot of people for his years in the KHL but people forget how good he actually was in the NHL.
Fleury is in the 400 win club and has a cup, not many goalies have that. I think he gets in for that.

Suter probably not. I was a little surprised when I look up his career and found how dry it was in regards to awards and point totals.

Backstrom has 5 60 assists seasons, and only 1 season where he played 70+ games with less than 50. One of the most underrated playmakers ever (yes I know he sets up ovechkin, bu those are still impressive numbers)

Getzlaf I was borderline with

Marleau has 1100 points and 1600 games, I think those numbers will get him in

I don’t think stamkos and Backstrom are that far away. The rest is fair

I think Kovalchuk absolutely gets in. If it was the NHL Hall of Fame then maybe he doesn't make it, but it's not. It's the Hockey Hall of Fame, which includes consideration from accolades in the NHL, KHL, and international play as well. He might not be a first ballot guy, but he'll get in after a few years.

I may be a no apologies Capitals homer, but Nick Backstrom 100% FOR THE HOF! Quietly been a Top5 center in the NHL his entire career.

I agree he’s been great. If he doesn’t get in it will be for lack of hardware.
