No it doesn't work! You have to add 2-3 roster players with $78k in cap and the cap is going to be under $83m, so you actually are already over. How do you ever bring Hyman and Dermott off LTIR?

What are you gonna do when you have to take Hyman off LTIR?

Also, could someone explain something to me? I've always been confused about LTIR. If Toronto has to put him on LTIR DURING the season, that's a problem, right? Because they'd have to be under the cap at the start of the season. Am I right?

The leafs would get full relief from Hyman, Dermott and Horton. They could either spend that relief or more than likely leave enough room for when Hyman and Dermott return. They can be added to SOIR so leafs could theoretically spend right to the max but would need to make a trade to accommodate when they return.

My question is why Marleau and zaitsev are on the roster???? They will be traded July 1st or shortly after.

I fig when needed we move Marleau using a 2nd and SDA as incentives. The notion that it would cost KK or A.J to move Marleau is asinine. The reason we would be moving Marleau is to be able to keep A.J and K.K .

Zaits and Marleau are still there because I wanted to see if a roster could work if the costs to move these players is too much. So even if its too much to move those players all we really loose is 1 of KK or A.J and maybe need to move Brown.

Leafs need to move 4-6m in contracts (accounting for mango and Kappy at 3m or less) depending on contracts. If the salary cap is below 83m then they will need to move more.

But if they put them on LTIR, are you saying they can do that and get away with it even if they're over the cap?

Example:
Seattle is at 85M when the cap is 83M. If they place Joe Smith (3M cap hit) on LTIR, that would be okay. But what if they do it right when the season starts? Can they say, "we'll have him on LTIR at the start of the season?" And would they count as being under the cap (if they can now spend up to 86M with Smith on LTIR) at the start of the season?
