Really is that the worst case..... I can think of a few other situations that would be more problematic.... Marleau says no I am not willing to go to any other team except SJS and they have no cap room.... how about Marner saying yeah it is going to take $11,500,000 a year or more....

I forgot the plague in Los Angeles and feces all over the streets in San Francisco.

Considering most think that it'll cost a Johnsson-type to get rid of Zaitsev's contract, which means you're essentially getting Barrie for Connor Brown, I can think of a lot of worse scenarios...
