I can't see how TML wouldn't be in on that trade if Marleau was willing to waive, Milano is a project and certainly a pretty decent return for a 6.25 cap dump - real Question is why would CBJ do this?

Please elaborate. It’s a better return than a 7th round pick like most people suggest. The point is to relieve cap issues chief

Marleau could play a role mentoring young CBJ players, and is still a very useful NHL player. CBJ get a good draft pick and move Milano. I see no reason why they wouldn’t go for something like this

All reasons I'd pull the trigger on that deal - Am I missing something when it comes to Milano? I know he hasn't exactly panned out in CBJ

Mentoring generally isn't worth 6.25m cap space unless there no intention of using that space. Marleau and the 2nd...Leafs would be delighted.
No, not and another LTIR trade....Clarkson. You have to know that year long LTIR players have no affect on the cap

He just doesn’t really fit Torts’ system. Very highly skilled, just a square peg in a round hole in Columbus

Might need some adjustment to the Marleau trade, appears I shot low on that one, but I think CBJ want back in the draft.

Since the LTIR relief is dependent on amount of cap space available, salary v signing bonus, etc, there is certainly value to moving a guy like Clarkson. Frees up some space now, and at the deadline if they want to make moves

Teams are not "cap punished" for having players on LTIR. The only practical difference on having a player on LTIR and IR is the ability to pay the bonuses in the current year or delaying it to the following year. That's it. Certainly doesn't affect Vegas at all this year.
