Karlsson is a very versatile player and I think he would fit in on almost every team, the question is if Montreal should be paying a player this much right now... they wont have cap issues over the next 2 years but 3 years down the road guys like Domi, Tatar, Kotkaniemi, Poehling, and more will all need new contracts

Fair enough, you have to realize though though that its going to be hard for them to afford him, or any potential top 2 center they get back in a deal... montreal has plenty of center prospects they could give up but not anyone who can fill that role in the next year. In fact im not sure any team has a player like that

@nhltakesandtrades to add to that, if Karlsson was to become available, there'd be a number of potential suitors for him that could offer the type of prospect bounty that they're looking for.
