A more likely Marner offer sheet

Description
NOT MINNESOTA MAKING THE OFFER, BUT THE AMOUNT IS THE POINT!!!!!!!

$10.5m for 5 years, Toronto will probably match but the compensation is only 2 1st round picks, a 2nd and a 3rd which is worth it for a definite impact player. Not saying Minnesota should do this, because Fenton supposedly hates offer sheets but it's worth mentioning because so many Toronto fans keep saying they'll get 4 1st round picks on an offer sheet when that isn't a definite thing.

On a side note, burying Rask in the minors is the path Fenton should take if he can't fix his issues working with a skating coach over the summer. They can buy him out next year if they need the cap space for Spurgeon's new deal.

Toronto fans: what should Dubas do if this happens? This would really put them in a bind to make other moves, which could force a bad trade since they'll have 7 days to match or lose Marner.

Leaf fans aren’t assuming it is 4 first they are saying that the Leafs will match anything under the 10.59.

That's assuming Marleau gets moved, which if I'm LA that's going to cost a lot more if the Leafs are trying to become cap compliant after taking on Marner's $10.5m offer sheet match. There's a ton of leverage for LA, because Marleau seems to only be willing to go to a handful of teams to begin with.

But can they? Dubas hasn't found a deal to move Marleau yet and the cap is sounding more and more like it will be between $81.5 and $82m. What would you be willing to have them trade away to make a $10.5m Marner deal work?

Still over a week until he can sign one then 7 days if he does so lots of time to make the space and a team is allowed to go 10% over the cap during the off-season.

He shouldnt panic and seek for any deal......Marners only leverage is Offer-sheet, if / while there wont be any, Dubas will get the upper hand in contract negotiations. He PRed pretty well last night, returning the ball to Ferris and Paul Marner with " if you want we can take offersheet picks and you can play in other town then in your home one where you grew up and you are cropping all the benefits"

I don't see one where Marleau stays and they match a $10.5m x5 offer sheet. the one you have with Marleau staying has them getting 4 1st rounders they use to trade for players.

Thanks, curious to see a Leafs fan perspective on what you'd want the team to keep. For the record, I don't think they get an offer sheet and I think he signs for around $10m or so for 4-6 years. It just creates a fun ACGM topic to try to make all the pieces fit.

Marner doesn't sign the offer sheet. Leafs would match anyway.

????? Leafs can sign all their RFAs and be within 10%. Horton's LTIR 5.3m doesn't count. So really the Leafs and all teams have till October to get that 10% down to the cap levei
