Description

Not buying the Subban to leafs rumours, they just cannot afford that with the Marner situation. I think the leafs should look into Miller, who is much more affordable and I think would look good next to Muzzin on the second pair. Vegas needs to clear cap space, and seem like they have Miller as an odd man out.

I used the help of an avid poster on this site to construct this deal, and tweaked it a little. Leafs get a top 4 D which makes sense salary wise, and Vegas clears some needed cap space.

The return is two former second rounders in Korshkov and Rasanen, along with two additional draft picks (I admit the 7th was tossed in because the leafs have so many, not like I think it tips the scales).

Cant see Korshkov being traded as he was just signed.

Just a prospect, I am sure if the leafs have a chance to improve their D with moving him instead of Bracco or someone from the big club, they will do it. Could insert Timashov in his place as well?

Yeah for sure he's expendable, but its propably going to be Leafs who make the call for a top4 D. In which case they are propably going offer others guys than him.

So the Leafs take on more cap. It's to the point where any Leaf post has to be make the team cap compiiant. 19 players. , 9.2m in cap space with Marner, Kapanen, Johnsson to sign with this post.

Well I can’t tell you what Vegas thoughts are, other than who?

And from a Leafs standpoint, if a thought at all, this is at the end of list of thoughts.

Much needs to be done prior to taking on cap for a player not part of their current problem.

After the dominos fall, from a Leaf standpoint if I’m rid of Marleau, Zaitsev & made my signings/trades for who is mandatory, I’d consider this if I’m hovering around 78-79mil cap, but will I be?

you realize that the Leafs are limited to 1 trade per season right? .. everyone always seems to forget that. They can make future moves to be under the cap. It happens all the time.

The value is a bit of an overpayment from Toronto. Vegas has to shed quite a bit of cap, and won't get full value for Miller because of it. a 2nd round pick and a B prospect is probably more reasonable for both sides. B prospects being the likes of Bracco, Rasanen, Greenway, SDA, Korshkov, etc.

I was thinking 2nd a prospect as well, but throw in Rasanen, who does not seem like he is interested in coming to NA right now, and drop the pick to a third, I would be more interested in that then giving up a second. Nice thought though.
