CALGARY TAMPA

Initial Creation Date: Jun. 22, 2019

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Couple moves that I would like to see,

The Calgary move sends a player back to Calgary that they never really wanted to lose when they tried to sneak him through wavers a few years back. Byron is on a team friendly contract and can play up and down the line up and is a great penalty killer. Evans is a solid prospect that is close to making the jump to the NHL if not this year. Calgary also creates cap space by moving Frolik out to help resign their key RFA's
From Montreal's perspective they get the top pairing LD that they need, although he is set to become a UFA next year there is risk that they wont be able to resign him. Frolik is a solid pro that will fit in well on the wing for the Habs for one year. The swap of draft picks I feel balance the value of the trade.

Tampa trade also is cap related. Tampa needs cap space to sign RFA's like Point and Erne and others. Julseen will fit in well on there right side D. Lehkonen is a solid two way forward good PK and some untapped offensive potential.
From Montreal's perspective they get a good player in JT Miller, a player that can play all three forward positions. He can serve as the top line center until KK shows he is ready. The extra center depth allows Poehling and Suzuki a year to develop in the AHL. Once Montreal has all there young centers in the show JT can move to the wing. The swap of draft picks also balances the trade value in IMO.

I'm not really a big fan of the Lightning trade. We can trade Miller if we have to eventually, but for now, he's a big player who has potential to become the power forward the Lightning need and we shouldn't need to move him until the end of this season. Especially if we're moving down in the draft to do it. Obviously this is a better return than what we'd get at the end of this season when we're desperate, but we're in a win-now mode, so I don't think this move would be worth it for us.
