That's way too much for Aho. He is the best player in the deal, but not by THAT much. Take out the second rounder in the Puljujarvi deal and then I think it is fair.

Edit: Nvm that second rounder is fine

Scheifele is better. Aho is better suited as a LW and is not nearly as good defensively, not to mention scheifele is on a better contract than what aho will be getting. Wheeler is not a cap dump yet and is much more valuable than bean. Scheifele is easily in a list of the top 10 C in the league. Cant say the same about aho

What if it was Gagner rather then Manning?
Oilers have plenty of cap space next season and Perreault makes about a million more then Gagner does.

I'm not sure why Edmonton does that. Perreault isn't an upgrade on Gagner, he's $1M more and has an extra year to boot. I would consider

just because I value that 2nd, but otherwise I don't see any point. Part of the reason the Oilers have cap space next year is because Gagner's contract drops off and he'll be replaced with a prospect, changing him for Perreault negates that.

I think they feel they need more 3rd line wingers though, swapping one for another doesn't change anything.
