Description
On the radio today, Stan seemed to indicate that he would stay away from big time UFA's that would require excessive term, as that would put them in the same Cap Bind they've had in years past. He also indicated he wants to improve the forecheck and PK. Also indicated they want more greasy goals.

Dach - I would not anticipate to stay with the club all year. The $2.5M cap hit is due to performance bonuses.

Greasy goals - Perry. I can't imagine anyone offering him more than a 1 year deal. They could include performance bonuses.

Tanev - strong fit on the forecheck

Eakin - cap dump for Vegas. Someone has to go. He can PK. He can forecheck. 1 year deal.

Cam Ward - the goalie situation is awfully concerning if Crawford isn't healthy. Some insurance (aside from Delia) is needed.

I still do not like the Defense as constructed, but it could be worse (see 2017-2019 as an example)

In the scenario below, at least $10M is slated to come off the books the following year. That won't be enough to re-sign DeBrincat and Strome, but with a few additional tweaks (Saad/Murphy) and a cap bump of, say $2M, they will be able to get it done.

Ward is NOT coming back would not want him back. Time to see what we have with the young goalies in the system.

Dach would have to hit ALL performance bonuses to get 2.5 Mill...let hope he does. BTW, once he plays more 8 games he can't be returned to the WHL...and they burn a pro year from his contract. If the Hawks try him out at the beginning of the year and he doesn't seem ready...he'll be returned so he can dominate at the Major Junior level and play in the world juniors then they'll bring him up to stay at the end of the year to potentially play in the playoffs......he will not see 1 day of hockey in Rockford....it just doesn't make any sense....

That's fair. Doesn't have to be Ward, per se. Using him as a placeholder, because I do think they'll need something else in net

Well, he can't go to Rockford. There's a rule based on age. It's either NHL Or Juniors. Again, using 2.5 as a placeholder, because if he hits bonuses and they don't have cap space that rolls to next year. Also, he can earn up to 3.25 (I think, maybe it's 3.75) with all of his perf bonuses. And if he doesn't stick with the club, that 2.5 goes back into the pool and can be banked for TDL. Eakin moves up to 3C and Kampf 4C

thats right, he can't go to Rockford at all...the 8 games just burns the pro year...he can be returned to major juniors at any time....

The rule is 9 games. At Game 10, he burns the year, but that includes the playoffs. So I could see them trying him out with the big club and then bringing him back if they make the playoffs.
