I think thats an overpayment for Smith but other trades look good

Kapanen deal was already released, so you're overpaying him. Smith deal is a HUGE overpayment. Vegas needs to dump cap and you're essentially giving them two first rounders for him, and a third. That's a big no. Think the same is true of the EDM deal, throwing in the 2021 first is too much.

Hopefully with this team it is two late first rounders, and in my opinion Bowers and Kaut will not develop into quality NHL players. Also in a salary cap league you have to place some value on the players contract for Hopkins and Reilly, they are both on very reasonable contracts which is why I think the Avs would have to give up a little more.

Only problem with the Kap trade is it takes away cap space from Leafs, can't afford to lose kap space at this point... would have to retain on barrie or take out the 2nd and add Brown, something to make it cap neautral. Fair trade otherwise IMO.

Bowers and Kaut could be key ELCs though. The cap is everything in the league right now and you can't go spending big $$$ on your bottom 6, which is exactly where guys like them could slot in. Difficult decision for sure though.
