We don't need anymore defense. We still have Mitchell, Boqvist, Beaudin in the wings waiting for next season. Locking us down with anymore big contracts would be foolish at this point especially when we'd have to expose them to the expansion draft anyway.

Panarin isn't signing here. And he isnt signing for 9.5.

Alex Nylander sucks. Anisimov is better.

Would a guy that lacks stones make the Schmaltz for Perlini and Strome deal?

How exactly do you extend Strome and Debrincat with everyone added?

Assuming they're ready for next season, you have chips to trade if need be, and you don't care if you lose Myers, Maata, or DeHaan in an expansion draft. Could keep Murphy for the right side of the D, but getting Raddysh to play with DeBrincat and Strome would be worth it. The Toronto deal makes sense because the Leafs get their D on the cheap and the Hawks get a decent pair of bottom six wingers who can play defence, kill penalties, and chip in on offence. Signing Lazar was for the same reason... decent pivot who can kill penalties or centre a line in Rockford if need be. Perry is a decent flier the way Richards or Vermette were. Signed Panarin and Myers, cleared cap space, and still managed to build for the future.

So, I see your point regarding the back end... and really appreciate your input! Cheers.

They'd still have 15m cap space, it's extremely doable.

15 million and still need to sign 5 forwards, 2 of which will want 14 million collectively. A goalie and a D

So you sign a guy like Myers and don't care if he's lost in expansion? Nah. If he's getting paid he's going to want an NMC attached.

And Lazar isn't a center. He averages 4 faceoffs a game and hovers at 40%.
