Byram probably won't be ready yet, but this team is very solid. I'd probably bump Colin Wilson up the depth chart a bit, but other than that this looks pretty accurate to what will probably be out there opening night.

I think they will kick the tires with Byram before sending him down to Jrs for another year. The typical 7-9 games.

Sakic said in his presser that Jost will start the Wing with Kadri. I assume the lines will be

Landy Mack Rants
Jost Kadri Bura (I think I read that he was his most productive at RW during his first seasons in Wsh)
Wilson Compher Donskoi
Calvert Bellamare Nieto

He also said Kadri could play wing.

I just think based on that, Jost is on the 2nd line either W or C, to start the year at least

@coga16 , I dont like kerfoot, but Barrie for kadri was a bitter pill to swallow, I just hope with all the additions that sakic is making kadri can find some chemistry

I think you had to add Kerfoot (who wanted to go to Arbitration) to make it worth their wild to move on from Kadri and his very nice cost controlled deal plus getting a 3rd round pick, which helps recoup the cost of getting Bura.

All signs points to Kadri is a driver, so whatever line mates that re with him, he will be able to drive offense with them which is something that still is a question mark about Jost even though I am a big big believer in him.

Yeah, I liked the ufa's they signed think they got them cheap, high skilled guys underutilized on their previous teams, with more playing time hoping they break out, I'm sure they still try and add dzingel. But I do like Madrid's contract and grit, just hoping hes going to be worth Barrie who is a favorite of mine.. I've been talking him up for years

Moving barrie is a gamble, but they must believe Makar w/ Girard are going to make an impact right out of the gate plus Byram Timmins could be NHL regulars on that blue line sooner than later. It sounds like they couldnt afford to keep Barrie and thats why they made this move. Try to get a piece they desperately needed that fits with the Mack Window.

I am not thrilled they had to throw in Kerfoot to get it done but when you consider Barrie is one year from UFA and when a 1 year from UFA must better overall Dman in Trouba went for a 1st and Pionk, maybe tats just the price of business this offseason.

I would be shocked if they added another Fwd like Dzingle. I think thats why Wilson was brought back on a 1 year deal. They looked at the Ferland/Dzingle/Johannsan market, didnt like their term asks (apparently thats why Avs and Ferland didnt happened when it was rumoured to be close) so they went back to a guy they know nad like on a 1 year in Wilson

Dont think Joe likes giving those long term contracts.. if timmins is recovered he should be in the lineup this year, the defense looks good, sakic said resigning Barrie for so much doesnt make sense when they have guys ready to step in like that..I dont love the Wilson signing but glad he took a pay cut, but I really liked the burakovski trade, you know my feelings on kerfoot, he probably wants to much money for what he brings so dont let door hitcha on the way out

After Donskoi, I dont think they want to over commit term to block Kaut. Which is why Wilson makes so much sense at a 1 year deal. If they were able to get a guy like Ferland at 2 years that would have made sense, stop gap for Kaut this year, then Nieto is off the books so Ferland slides into that spot to open up for Kaut. Another 3 year deal wouldnt make very much sense.

Agreed, and now that kerfoot is gone I dont think we'll be arguing as much as we use to

after they traded for Burakovsky I knew kerfoots days were numbered. Hes the same but different that him, but the main point is that hes big body and high volume shooter. He plays the way they needed Kerfoot but just doesnt have the offensive numbers to match Kerfoot, but he was in the bottom 6 vs top 6 all year compared to kerfoot.

I wasnt a fan of moving Kerfoot for guys ilke Kessel bc I think thats causes bigger issues at his age and only being a winger, but to get a guy like Kadri, I understand the value in that.
JeffW liked this.
