Kreider and Fast are 1-year rentals (and from NY Rangers perspective, they are cap dumps since NY is now well over cap following Panarin and Trouba acquisitions). Take Caleb Jones out, make the Rangers picks into 1sts (both of them) and it would start to look close.

Your title is "Leafs fans trying to fix Edmonton" but none of these trades are good for Edmonton.

Your logic for trading RNH to NYR he fits well in NY. Then add Colby Jones who is a pretty good D prospect that has improved each season. How is that good for Edmonton?

Toronto gets Manning for half price and Edmonton gets a 4th. How is that good for Edmonton?

Brodziak is 35 and in the last year of his $1.25M contract. This is basically a cap dump and Ottawa is going to want some thing for it. So why give up an asset to dump $1.25M? Especially when the buyout is $350K this year and $400K next season. How is that good for Edmonton?

Colby Cave is 24 still young enough to become a solid player. Plus he fills a roster spot for $675K and has 1yr left on his contract. How is this good for Edmonton?

One last thing: As a Wings fan please don't try to fix Detroit.

Brodziak can be buried for a mere 75K in cap hit. The thought of buying him out and taking a higher cap penalty this year (and next!?!) is asinine.

Caleb Jones is a promising young D prospect, but I am not as hopeful about the development of Colby Jones. He skates funny.

Nevertheless, refreshing to read something other than Benning for Connor Brown again.
