I would rather take on the Clarkson contract, its more than Reavo and I think we could get a little more in return for it

Clarkson is gonna be on LTIR so it has no effect on the cap hit.

Pretty sure due to tax reasons NJ will be on his No trade list.

Not a lot. Insurance covers 85% of his contract.

Don't give up woody
They are in cap trouble
We have Simmonds, don't need Reaves unless moving him along
Take on another piece
Send a prospectike Speers if you have to give up a body
If your moving woody it should be in a pkg for a better LHD

Not during the off season. Clarkson's contract still counts towards the cap and will be included in their final cap hit they need to get under max before the season starts

Yes - we are talking about different things.

On salary cap front, you are right.

On cash flow, insurance pays most of the cash out of pocket for whatever team that owns his rights.

Right so then NJD should take his cap

Sure. But unlikely that Clarkson would ever list NJ as one of the teams he would agree to be traded to. Its 100% tax arbitrage for him. Take the list of states and provinces with NHL teams and sort them by lowest tax rate. At the bottom, just above California, is New Jersey.
