Just was thinking the same thing, I would assume vegas would want a guy like Greer instead but a cheap guy like Nieto who can produce in the bottom 6 plus a mid round pick could be tempting for Vegas. Probably fair deal on the surface but I would assume teams would move more to get him

Gusev is looking 2year x 4m...which Avs can easily do

Gusev would be a great addition on that left wing. If you want to get the most out of Kadri, it might even be a must have. Gusev hasn't proven himself in the league but the left wing need a skill player.

Obviously from Avs perspective Nieto would be the best option, but with all those forwards signed yesterday, Greer might be expandable. I'm kinda hoping Greer will get a chance at the Avs, but I don't expect him anytime soon in the line-up

Yeah i thought after the year he had in the minors he would be getting a shot this year but all these signings are filling up the spots quickly. I'm not huge about the wilson signing either after all the additions we did. He's not the best skater and he's gonna be 4th line this year which will limit his minutes and make his foot speed that much slower.

This team is loaded with depth forwards and LD... And they are still linked to Ferland. Ferland - Compher - Donskoi as 3rd line would be great but they have to move a lot of players. Maybe Sakic thinks he can trade Wilson at the TDL. If they move a couple more bottom 6 players Greer might be in the line-up after the TDL.

Landeskog - MacKinnon - Rantanen
Gusev - Kadri - Burakovsky
Ferland - Jost - Donskoi
Greer - Bellemare - Calvert

Or something like that. That 2nd line would be a bit of a gamble but high reward if it works.

Edit: if Gusev or Ferland doesn't happen, Compher stays as 3C and Jost LW in middle 6

They aren’t linked with ferland anymore, that was before they signed Wilson. The sticking point with him was term, so that’s why they got Wilson back at a 1 year deal. They didn’t want to commit then multiple years on ferland

Hmm ok. Did see that term was a hurdle but missed they were out on him. Saw a list earlier today with Avs still one of the 4 teams in on him. Am ok with not going with Ferland for like 4+ years. Anyway I think nothing special will happen. Hoping they trade for Gusev but probably not

The term thing has to do with kaut, you do 2-3 years on ferland you are blocking a spot for him now that we have kadri donskoi jost compher bura to make up the middle 6. Wilson just keeps that spot warm for him
