It has been reported (by not 100% reliable sources at this point) that Gusev is looking for 2 years x 4 million. The compensation on an offer sheet would be a second. So throw in a fourth + Evans (a decent prospect who won't likely crack the Habs roster with the wealth of prospects we have coming) to acquire him, and Eakin, who will be a depth player for the Habs while providing VGK with some cap relief. Eakin has 1 year left on his contract and we can let him walk next summer when Poehling/Suzuki are ready for the NHL full time.

Gave Gardiner 5 years x 6 million. There would be a bit of cap flexibility left to offer a touch more if needed.

Overall, this team could be quite balanced while leaving some room for future signings. Domi, Mete and Juulsen would be up for renewal next year with 13.3M of cap space assuming no increase to the cap ceiling. Estimating Domi gets 8 years x 8 million, Mete gets a bridge deal at a 2.5-3.5 million per year and Juulsen gets a bridge at 1.5-2.5 million year, the Habs should be in decent shape.
