I expected to see the usual drouin trade, but was horrified by Colorado giving up a top prospect, an rfa wrecking ball on skates, and a decent bottom 6 player, then a 1st and 2nd pick... all for a 3c, a bottom 6 winger, and an old RHD thatbthey dont need.

Just despicable

It’s s Montreal fan who made the roster so of course they would post this sort of terrible trade

I think it's the MTL fan saying that it's not enough for their terrible players who would have to fight to be on any other teams 23 man roster

petry would instantly be your best and most experienced D on the right side, danault was top 5 in selke voting just this past season and byron is a speedy 20 goal scorer making less than 4mill, but yeah sure, matt calvert is the 2nd coming of mcdavid.

1. I'll give you that I may have exaggerated slightly about how bad they are ( they still arent very good and fill 0 needs for the avs)
2. Petry would possibly be the most experienced on the right side but obviously sakic is confident in the Johnson, makar, timmins.
3. Danault would be the 3rd line centre in Colorado, we dont need a 3mill 3c because we just traded away soderberg, also who cares about the selke. Wake me when it's the hart trophy
4. Byron would possibly slot in on the 3rd, more likely 4th line, so hes basically a no go based on his salary.

i agree with the above, but your comment was outrageous. Petry has been a top 25 d man in the league over the past 3 years. Surrounding Makar, Timmins, Byram with him, would be extremely beneficial for all 3, especially during playoff time, as petry has some good experience during the playoffs (johnson does as well, dont get me wrong). as for danault, hes capable of shutting down a mackinnon or matthews, as he did this past year. when hes on the ice, he makes an offensive and defensive differnece, and put up 41 assists just this past season. he needs to shoot more imo. he's not your ideal 2c, but he's not a bum either.

Habs give up the most quality (to receive more[quantity]):

#High End 2D (retained paid like a #5D) Petry - vs #4D Zadorov
Elite #3C / Low-end #2C Danault vs Prospect in Kaut that projects to a lesser version.

Byron could also be retained to better match Calverts salary, but outpreforms and can slot higher in the lineup when needed.

+ 1st could be a 2021 instead.
+ 2nd to balance out value.

Yes - overall quantity for quality, but value and needs line up fairly well.

Girard is Poehling or Suzuki. We have no want for Drouin.

Drouin next to Mack and Rantanen puts up 70+ points easily. He is more valuable to GMMB than those two prospects.

He might be, yeah. I genuinely want nothing to do with Drouin though. Gabe put up 70+ points next to Mack/Rants last year, so there's no need. Add in that Girard is a top-2 defenseman, and it makes no sense.

He's in your Top 4 still - just gets a much better mentor in Petry.
