Because that offer is hot garbage, that's why.

Habs aren't getting Schuldt either and Gusev isn't signing 3 years, certainly not under 4m.

What's in it for Las Vegas? Are they a charity now?

Gusev didn't play one NHL game. He is still a prospect.

It makes no sense to trade Clarkson, Vegas can place him on LTIR while Montreal could only place him on IR.

And that is why Montreal should stay really far away from him because you would have to offer Suzuki and Primeau (who co-incidentally have neither played an NHL game) or Vegas hangs up the phone

Las Vegas doesn't need to dump Clarkson's cap hit. Las Vegas doesn't need a backup goaltender, no matter how good a prospect he is. Las Vegas doesn't need two draft picks, even if one of them is a second-rounder. Las Vegas needs RD.

Two picks and a cap dump gets you Nick Holden.

I'm wondering how Vegas will solve their Cap space issues. They have all good contracts and have no good pieces to move. I understand Clarkson going to LTIR but not on summertime when they have players to sign. Hope we get more Offersheets.

I'll take a dozen Habs dirty jock straps if they take Holden, heck Vegas will even throw in a pair of Celine Dion tickets too

My first thought was to include Cale Fleury in the deal instead of a second round pick.

Just Reaves and Holden will make Vegas compiant.
Philly will take Reaves, and we need to find someone who will take Holden. I hear Bergeron likes Celine Dion

Sharing opinions and thoughts makes it clearer. Thanks for your comments. I'll maybe work out some king of deal with Holden. lol.

During this summer a team's maximum cap hit can be almost $90M (10% over $81.5M). To finally solve the problem, there are basically four possible strategies: (1) trade Eakin; (2) trade Gusev; (3) trade Holden and Reaves; or (4) trade someone of high value and high cap hit (Smith, Marchessault) for someone of equal value but lesser cap hit.

Cale Fleury and a second for Gusev makes sense for Las Vegas. Don't know whether Montreal is willing to take such a flyer on Gusev.

Could make sense by adding Schuldt which they where looking at and he was a teamate of Poehling. Mtl is looking for deepnest on left D side. Mtl could add a B plus prospect like Jake Evans.

I don't think the Habs can trade for Clarkson. He has a M-NTCNMC (choose from14 teams) and I don't think Montreal is in the list given the income tax.

But Vegas are in big trouble and are trying to trade Clarkson where they can.
What the habs could do is to get one of their already signed player and giving good prospect and draft pick.

What about:
Alex Tuch (Worth 2 1st and a 2nd and some assets)
Ryan Reave (Cap dump, not worth is contract)
vs
Juulsen (late 1rd pick)
1st Round pick
2nd Round pick
Matthew Peca (retain 500k)
Jordan Weal (retain 200k)

Could be but don't forget 2020 draft is in Mtl. Don't want to Mtl without picks in this draft.

The Clarkson talk was before they traded Miller and Haula, they are literally in the same situation as the Leafs with Horton, no one is talking about that. McPhee has stated over and over that Clarkson situation is no longer an issue
