Trade with Van

Created by: MJOHNSON1201
Team: 2019-20 Minnesota Wild
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 9, 2019
Published: Jul. 10, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I think Van and Min could strike a deal. MIN should be rebuilding and Van I think will be looking to make a surprise push in their Division. Van is looking for another top 6 winger and scoring threat. This gives them both a top and bottom six forward with potential to score goals and bruise bodies. The Wild get 2 serviceable NHL players with some upside, prospect and pick.

The Scratched players are players I would like to see complete for NHL time this year.

MIn would have plenty of Cap Space (keep in mind this cap shows 31 Roster player, that would need to be dropped to 23 or 22).

Thanks

Cap and roster space issues aside, Virtanen (Tanev, too) was the name thrown around during the Zucker trade rumors and Fenton obviously didn't feel like that was sufficient. I like Gaudette and I like Virtanen, but I wouldn't pay Zucker to get them since I think both won't ever amount to more than middle 6 players (where Zucker is a top 6 player).

Thanks. I think they did before the Ferland signing, but now it would be hard to swing

Thanks for the comments. I think Van had the cap space before the Ferland signing, which I didn't see until after the post, but is moot now.

What am I missing why would we not do this trade (besides the cap issues)?? We get younger and right shots and Zucker is still part of the old guard that were supposed to take this team to the next level and they did not that's why they are gone. I say get as young as we can around Parise and Suter while we wait for there contracts to run out and at this point I think that change just for the sake of change maybe the best route at this point for this team.

Because I don't think Virtanen and Gaudette will ever be more than 3rd liners. I'd love to be wrong, but you don't trade a good top 6 forward on a team-friendly deal for a bunch of "maybe" 3rd liners. I'm fine with moving Zucker for a young right shot player, but I wouldn't be happy if it were for Virtanen and Gaudette.

Edit: Also, our owner doesn't want a rebuild (which is what waiting for the Parise and Suter contracts to run out would be). He wants to try and win every year since playoff revenue puts money in his pockets

Ok maybe these two guys aren't the correct 2 but Zucker is an ok to Avg guy with one really good season plus like I said before his group with the Wild had there chance and it's time to move on and try something different.

I know but he is an Idiot who can't see the forest for the trees this Wild Team is not going to do much in the West the way it is now. If they do make the playoffs they will be done in the first or second round as usual.

Zucker is a lot better than you think. Here's a quote from The Athletic that really puts things into perspective

"Zucker, one of the Wild’s fastest players, ranks tied for 47th in the NHL the past three seasons with 76 goals and tied for 34th with 60 even-strength goals."

Not just among wingers, but 47th in the NHL over 3 seasons in goals and 34th in the NHL for even-strength goals. That's top-line forward production. He's not a superstar or anything, but he's a really solid winger and way better than people give him credit for IMO.

Look I get it Zucker is better than Avg but maybe it's just the idea that he is from the old guard and I just want a change because this team has not done much with him and the guys that have been traded.
