Quoting: BCAPP
Expanding on your post I don't understand what is going to happen in the AHL this year. And I don't understand why d prospects like Kivilhalme and the NCAA dude sign with us. Plus I think I heard we signed a couple AHL D to AHL deals and this dude Gravel and Harpur.
Where the hell are all these guys gonna play.
There are 6 NHL playing spots and one MAYBE 2 bench slots, and 6 AHL slots, but frankly if you want to be an NHL defenseman you better not be a bottom pairing AHL dman for long.
Kivihalme appeared to be a marlies signing. Atleast that’s what I thought when they signed him. Duszak is a great pickup. Could see him breaking into the lineup after next season. Who knows maybe sooner. You never know what dubas is up to. I thought Rosen was a lock for bottom pair this year... nope gone. I think generating a solid defence is about brute force. The more competitive your prospect pool is the better chance you have at producing a solid nhl score. I mean next season we have Rielly... home is the only nhl Dman under contract. The way I see depth and players hopeful to make the jump
LHD-Rielly, Muzzin,Dermott, Marincin, Borgman,Sandin Harper,Kivihalme, Gravel.
9players for 6 spots and don’t forget that there is also the growlers and European leagues.
RHD- Barrie, Ceci, Holl, liljegren, Duszak, Hollowell, Lindgren, Rasanen
8 players for 6 spots.
I like what the future holds... I will say one thing though other than Rasanen and Harpur... it’s not a big defence.
