Description

NYR needs to save cap. This is a way for them to do so while also getting a premier forward back. They won't be able to resign Kreider anyway. Russell is to make the cap work, but still saves them a lot compared to Shattenkirk (2.65 mil per year).

Pass. Rangers give up 3 of the 4 best players in the deal, while saving under 2.5m in cap space. And Nugent Hopkins is only signed for one more year after the current, and will want a raise from the 6m he's already making and imo not worth

I actually don't hate the framework for this trade, the biggest problem is that the Ranger's don't have the room for it and I'd rather have Shatty over Russell.
The Rangers need a 2C to fill the gap in hopes that one of Chytil, Howden, Andersson can become that guy...

A better version of this trade would be:

Shatty and Kreider for Nuge, Puljujarvi and a 2nd...
