I don't think you fully appreciate how truly awful Lucic's contract is from the perspective of a team that has to eat it. I'm not sure that LA would take that package for Jeff Carter alone, even if Carter is also becoming a cap dump.

Jeff Carter will retire before playing a single game for Edmonton, And good luck convincing Gardiner to take a 4 x 5 deal to play in Edmonton when he wants at least 7 x 7.
