Description

I don't see any scenario where Smith stays. Beleskey can be buried. Buyout will sting combined with Girardi's but don't see another alternative. They won't buyout Staal. Value his leadership and grit too much. Shatty has no trade value right now, and they can't buy out the hometown kid who came back on a discount. Would be bad PR look for future FA recruiting.

I don't like seeing them trade Kreider, but don't think they want to pay him long term. I think Vlad stays. Quinn loves him. Versatile. Plays hard and solid two way player. Also role model for young Russian guys coming in.

Buch can't play on the left side. They break up Panarin and Zib and give Chytil a chance at 2C w/ playmakers on each wing.

Strome sticks around because management is intrigued 33 pts in 63 games. I don't think his shooting % holds up, but I think Rangers want to see more of him to see if he fits long term, especially as a RH shot, and insurance in case Howden and Lias don't stick at C.

The Rangers are a interesting team to watch this offseason. They already at 82M with D'Angelo and Buchnevich yet to sign. As you mention Shatty won't be buyout it would look bad as the hometown kid who took a discount. Staal and Smith are buyout candidate.
Namesnikov and Strome are trade candidate. Kreider is likely playing his last season. But they have to move someone before the start of the season that's for sure.
