The Jets won't be very competitive without Laine so this trade really misses the mark.

I’d rather have a deeper D core than a lazy forward that puts up 35 goals but is nearly invisible half the season

The return on this trade is because kulikov is included and Laine doesn’t have a contract. If the jets do move him it would be a sign and trade most likely. And Carlo is a solid top 4 dman. Laine doesn’t make or break the jets like you seem to think
