as much as I like the Toffoli idea, I don't think LA does this trade. Not enough value in return. I also think that Shero might have something planned/in the works with Winnipeg. They have two high end scorers and not enough cap for both, plus filling out their roster. Hopefully it is a Conner trade, with Vatanen and some youth/picks going their way, but that is shooting for the stars.

As shannon said above, not enough value for someone who will be a top-line winger for the Devils. Out of pure learning desire, can anyone fill me in on why Mcleod is on so many Devils AGM's as trade bait? Is the team ready to give up on the kid?

2nd round pick and a B+ prospect would get you Toffoli. Any prospect included would have to be expansion draft exempt (so no Mcleod). I could see the Kings doing 2nd and Boqvist.

Alternatively, Kings would consider a 1st round pick and a short-term cap dump (1-2 seasons) with no prospect included.

Devs won't give Boqvist until they see what they have. The hype is he's a first rndr who slipped and we got lucky. I tend to agree based on clips I've seen. Mcleod is getting there, he's a right shooting C who can fly.
I'd still much prefer a deal with Vats/Mcleod/a pick and Josh Jacobs for Nurse who needs a new contract next yr

I don't disagree. That's just what the Kings would want in return.

New Jersey is kind of a tough trade partner because they only have a couple good quality prospects that are expansion-draft exempt, both of which are requirements for a Toffoli trade.

I could see LA taking less if this trade happens at the deadline. Maybe just a 2nd round pick.

My opinion is with Hischier and Hughes we are set at the top two center positions. Zacha has never shown the offensive power, but he has gotten as good as Zajac on defense, so I think they keep him for that. McLeod still has a ton of potential, and you just can't teach speed. So that makes him great trade bait. I also agree with Smitty426 on the Bogvist issue. We have four or five players that could really make some noise this year, so the future is looking good. I just think we need another proven scorer to put us on the path to a long playoff run and keeping Hall.
