I think Russel is a good vet for the kids @ 4 mill. with less salary owed for Melnyck. Would need to look @ any signing-bonuses, and after those are paid would sweeten the pot, so to speak.

Well regardless of if Russell is a good veteran presence for the Sens or not Pageau is worth a 3rd on his own and if you want Ottawa to take Russell you shouldn't expect Pageau and a 2nd, it's a real stretch to have either in there. Having said that I don't think Ottawa has done very well in helping teams with their cap issues this summer.. Lol


Yes - in this scenario Ryan's the dump. They also get the better player and can move on from the contract after the next season.

Ryan would be a good addition for Edmonton, not sure about getting a 2nd round pick but if Calgary gets desperate then maybe it's possible.

Freeing up Russel expedites this as well, with Reilly showing he can handle Top-4 responsibilities in limited fashion in the interim.

Yeah I think the Oilers can afford to trade Nurse but RNH can play wing so why bother swapping him for Tatar, seems like a lateral move plus you lose RNH ability to play center if needed so better to keep the Nuge. If you want Reilly then just send a late round pick for him, Pulujarvi may not have much value but still not worth it to give him away for a depth defenseman.
Better to just do Nurse, 5th for Drouin, Reilly
Personally I thought that they should've kept Sekera, promoted Jones and traded one of Nurse or Klefbom for a legitimate top 6 winger with term.

I see where you're going, but you're also getting great value for RNH as it is. Sell him as a #2C instead of a Top9 Winger later on down the line.
I want McD and Drai on 2 different lines (aside from PP), so that teams can't shut them down as easily.
