Kreider is UFA next year and we very likely cannot afford to re-sign him and Labanc next year. So we're trading 2 second round picks and a damn fine prospect for 1 year of Kreider and one year of Strome. We won't have any room left to sign Jumbo after this either..So yea, I think it's a bad move for multiple reasons.

Thornton said he would take whatever is left and I could afford to give him 1.7 with Kreider and Strome without any other trades

With everyone healthy, we would have great chances at the cup

if we could move 1 big player we could re-sign everyone next year ( eg. Kane)

Mate, you're delusional if you think Jumbo is signing for 800,000k. It's not happening. This deal, with retained salary gives us 957k left to re-sign Thornton. He isn't taking that.

Doug makes moves that make sense for now and the future, he always has longevity in mind and this move totally negates that. In this League, in this time of the cap, no one is taking on a big contract like Evanders without sending another large contract back.

Not to mention if you throw in trading Kane as well then we are essentially trading Kane, Chmelevski, Melker, 2 top 100 draft picks and Jumbo's last year with the Sharks for Kreider (he who has never reached 30 goals and only reached 50 points twice) and Strome (he who has never notched 20 goals and hit 50 points once six years ago). Yeah this is a GREAT deal for the Sharks! Come on.

Mate, take a look at the trades that went on this offseason and every season prior. Players like P.K. Subban with very expensive contracts get traded all the time without an expensive contract returning in trade. Quit throwing out fake news!

You’ve provided one example. Incredible. Well done. This isn’t fake news it’s a simple reality and opinion. It’s not a fabrication and I am mostly right. Are there some lopsided trades around? Yes. Regardless, it’s beside the point.

They will have a dangerous top 6 with Kreider and Strome gives them a right handed shot who can play center or wing. Karlsson was shopped this summer and his 2 mill off the books and 2 mill retention of Kreider gives them a full year of both players for 3.725 cap increase. Strome is an rfa so they can move him next summer if they want

I agree you're not throwing out fake news. I should have instead stated along the lines of, I disagree with your assessment of the trade market and that there are a number of trades every season that contradict your opinion. And I bid thee a good day.
