So did Derrick Poulliot, Anthony DeAngelo, and Ryan Sproul recently. CHL defenseman of the year doesn't mean anything.

It's laughable to state the Hughe's ceiling > Pettersson. Don't even know if the guy will play center in the NHL.

Shero is smarter than you give him credit for.

He’s smart enough to hang up the phone right away on that trade offer

The point is that if you crossover the potential from all prospects then every single established NHL player is worth more than a prospect with no NHL experience. Now Pettersson is a great player, but Hughes' potential is even higher than that. Ofc no one knows what he will bring to the table in the future, but with your logic everyone that has done something in the NHL is above the asset that haven't done anything yet.

If that happens, every single player under contract is worth more than a draft pick, no matter how high pick it is.

Thanks for clarifying. Pettersson isn't that much older than Hughes so I don't think your argument applies here. Disagree strongly that Hughes potential is greater than Petterson.

I clearly understand what your saying here and elias petterson as clearly the edge on jack hugues. I’m not as high on jack higues than anybody i think he will have a rough time getting from ushl to nhl. The last players was phil housley and tom barasso is i’m not mistaking. But for the quint hugues and ty smith things for now no one as proven anything so for me at this stage their value is very similar. Both play very similar game both add great succes in their respective league but for now both might be bust or star or just good players well see this year

Take your point. It's important to note that Hughes is ranked higher by every public scout by a wide margin. These are people like Scott Wheeler, Corey Pronman, Craig Button...

Hughes looked good in the limited time he played last year. Very small sample size, but 3 points in 5 games was promising.

He was ranked way higher but this year top 50 players hugues is 12 and ty smith 26 that not a lot considering then players between them

That's either a pretty massive overvaluing of Pettersson, or a pretty massive undervaluing of the Devils pieces. Take out Eriksson and either Smith or the 1st, and it's more realistic.

No issue with that. I think it’s the reverse in Vancouver. Good thing this isn’t going to happen.
