Doesn't make sense for the Isles cap situation given they're not shedding any salary here. If you want us to take Sutter you have to take Ladd, which I doubt you'd have interest in.

fair point, i thought it may be worth it as they lose a year of contract with sutter, and he is talked to be a better fit for the team. i din't think they were in that much of a crunch.

It's not a terrible crunch but salary needs to be cleared. Leddy at minimum needs to go. No one's going to take Clutterbuck or Ladd (probably).

I think for the Islanders it's that they have some big RFA'S to sign next season, mainly Barzal and Pulock so adding a bigger cap hit even if it's a year shorter doesn't make sense as they'll probably need all the space possible.

And this Islanders fans is another example why moving Hickey isn't as easy as you think it is. Basically every team is looking to move a contract or two so trading for a 30 year old, 3rd pair defenseman making $2.5M for 3 more seasons isn't a high priority for teams, and I like Hickey's game btw.
