Marner isn't likely to sign for 6 when he can get 12.5 over 7 yrs from CBJ or 13 / 7yrs from NYI as Elliot Reported.
He wants less term, yes, but 6 million? That's just cheating... so you can get Gardiner on board.
If I ask Matthews and Tavares to take 2 mil/ yr I can add sidney and Ovi without trading anyone on the roster too... lol

Marner's camp are completely ignoring past comparables so this argument is void.
While I agree it's a good plan, as the Leafs want no less than 3 years, so they come.down on term, I believe the value would be closer to 8M for Marner to consider.

I don't understand the Jake Gardiner signing.
Leafs have enough LHD now as it is. Next year (If not mid season this year) Sandin should be ready.

Why waste money on Gards?
Take the extra 2M and give to Marner, then take the rest and either find a plug for 3rd pair D or a good solid Hitter/Energy player for the 4th line. Bring back some grittiness. Will help help during the season? Maybe. Will it help during the playoffs? Absolutely.

I agree, forget Gards get Marner in the Leafs jersey and find a cheap fix on D depth and a cheap grinder for the playoff push (you'll notice Marlie pest Timashov is in my lineup while Dubas small skilled fwd experiment Petan has vanished).

BUT.....this is Dubas, he desperately wants Gards back.
