Leafs

Marners contract sucks and there is no team control at the end.</div></div>
I'm really having a hard time understanding in what world the Leafs would ever trade any of 16/34/88 but of all the trade chips 16 is only going to rafters when he leaves the leafs. So I stopped right there... and then to trade him for a maybe who is not #1 D. That's just laughable. MArner is one of the best scorers in the league. He plays in all phases of the game... something most scorers don't do. He's the heart of the room as you saw when the stories of Babcock came out. Lets just for a min compare the play and impact at the only level we can.
I'm not sure why you think dropping an elite scorer is the move you need so you can pay a 3rd liner 4 million. If anything needs to change its the middle of the pack. Salaries are never evenly split... so there are the elite who make marketing money on top of their stats money. They are why we go to the game, the jerseys we buy... we don't buy the 3rd line jerseys. Grow a little smarts... there must be some out there.
You don't trade or dump as you have an elite talent ever. If you need to get rid of money you move 31 he's attractive to a team trying to make the floor, they save 4 million in real money paying him his 1million left and get credit for all 5mil.
If you have to you dump a johnnson and save another 2 mill.
you never get rid of irreplaceable talent. you must be young cause you think a 27 / 93 /13 grow on trees. If you had lived through the last 50 years you would know that that's all we had ... 1-2 stars... and all of them were run of the mill stars. you pick up the leftovers that others have missed and must dump... maybe a sign a gudas... or go get a petro, but you don't drop 16 for anything you will be old an grey before you find another marner in Toronto, blue and white. This is a special time in LEAF history. Never have they had so many young talented players who were so Elite. They are lucky, to have a leadership group who isn't about making their career and is just trying to do the right thing. Most GMs are looking to make sure their career better, not doing what's best in the long term for their franchise, because they don't expect to be there more than 5 years

Move Rielly or Muzzin to the right side
OMG you are funny! Holl for anyone is ridiculous. He's a shut down right side defender for 2m. That's 3m cheaper than the market for that player. Johnsson for a 3rd? why? just keep the 15-25 goals and play him who's in the 3rd round you want instead? Jost is the same player as Kerfoot maybe not even as good. Just keep Kerfoot. Anderson to Carolina and you didn't get a defensemen? What are you thinking? are you playing with monopoly money and you think you get 200 for passing go each season? If you give away a top 10 goalie and perhaps better than stated. You will be dismissed by Christmas by Matthews... you can't just toss his best friend without a good return or he'll have shanny get a new GM. You need a great return for Freddy, either a goalie like a murray or Fluery (-salary retained) or ??? one of the other options this offseason. you can't trade just to move people... it takes half a season to get it organized then...

Major mooves for Major win
So let me get this straight you want the worst contract in the NHL even at 9.5 Doughty can't play anymore like he used to. and you are trading the 13th best scorer in the league over the past 2 years including a year where Marner was injured for part of it so likely playing hurt for the back half of the year. and you are getting an over the hill RD for almost 10m / yr. Just because they signed him at 11 isn't proof he's worth 11 neither is that Karlsson guy in a shark jersey either. both are collecting on years gone by and their star name not their star play. or both teams would have been in the playoffs. that's just what star defensemen do they carry their teams to success. NJ isn't giving up Wood... and why do we think we should trade our best player? Are you even a leaf fan? or did you go to the Ballard school of Leaf Management.

Gardiner and Marner
Marner for 6m / yr? Did you miss a 1 in front of that number?
Marner isn't likely to sign for 6 when he can get 12.5 over 7 yrs from CBJ or 13 / 7yrs from NYI as Elliot Reported.
He wants less term, yes, but 6 million? That's just cheating... so you can get Gardiner on board.
If I ask Matthews and Tavares to take 2 mil/ yr I can add sidney and Ovi without trading anyone on the roster too... lol
Just make an honest attempt or don't try, cheating the market value is just giving up.
Maybe it was supper time and you had to go... I get it.

Buds Stretch run
You give the top 3 lines the bulk of the time ... 18 18 16 and the 4th the 8 min. Like babs did in Detroit. Bozak is not showing this year that he's worth the time on the top 3 lines. He's a good faceoff guy but his defensive zone play is highly suspect and you hide that on the 4th line with 3 defensive specialist like Kom and Sosh. Willie is a puck carrier and so is Mitch... if you can get scorers with both those two, and let mathews carry the puck more, with two good diggers, he' flourishes as the puck carrier too. You then have 3 lines driving the forecheck and the scoring. 4+ goals a night.... and you have the puck the HOLL time. If you watch the last 4 games, we have had the puck but the 3rd line isn't scoring. JVR and Bozak and Brown just don't create like they should without an elite puck carrier. Something Kessel used to do for these two. Brown just doesn't hold the puck like Willie and Mitch do.
