To be honest im not really worried about kid, cause i think he wont make it thru Camp

Wilson, Shore, Gaudet, Engvall, Marchment and Korshkov as type of players hes proming to be and Agostino, Spezza, Åberg were all required with the upside of pulling Ennis this year, all with NHL and AHL expirience already, long way for him to go.

But as i said.....moneyballing is knocking on TML doors big time after Premium contracts and its not everybodys cup of tea. Ppl are still comforting themselves its about slight overpayment......

I see both sides of the argument here. What people have hinted at you about Mikheyev is that if he really has been promised a real shot at making the Leafs roster and if the Leafs don't give him a fair shake at it...then he's just going to bolt to Europe asap.

If he's not promised anything right now and seems not as ready as first thought, it becomes an easy decision to have him with the Marlies.

As i see it its pretty much naive to think anyone was promised a spot in the roster without beating 10 guys that are standing in the line for that same spot first. But yet again....listening ppl here everything that Office do is the best, contracts are the best, freelancers from Europe are ten times better then the ones from other Teams, even what we draft in 4th Round is better then top 10 picks around the League....D is just fine ( last summer ) lets build from within...its kind of tiresome to argue with those, actualy losing interest here.....

and in the meantime Parades are rolling thru other Towns despite everything is the BEST in TMLland.....

So instead of benefit from his skills ( still phantomic tho ) for few years you will give him opportunity to leetch on good players for one year ( which with D that we have again still isnt the Cup Season ) ask for money you cant give him and then leave him to prosper in some other Team....damn i dont get that logic....

Again, i dare to bet Moore can do as much as Mihkeyev and hes already signed for 2020/2021 also, so after two Seasons with Matthews-Nylander he will be two season 40 pointer and a valuable asset in trade.

The reason we won't agree is your assumption re d this isn't the cup year. We traded a darling contract in Kadri to get Barrie with salary retained. This is totally a year we are going for it. Focussing on the potential to have an opportunity to save 1 mil next year over icing the best team this year is silly.

I'm far from convinced that Mikheyev will be a successful NHLer but I do know holdi g him back to optimize his next contract would not stand ahead of trying to make the best team I can

I absolutely get your argument. One player I can think of immediately is Sheary, who was also undrafted. In the final year of his ELC he was close to a point per game playing on Crosby’s wing. Pens signed him to a bridge contract for 3m after that and the first year of his bridge contract he ended up playing with Sidney a lot less and as a result his point totals diminished. He ended up being an incentive in a trade for Buffalo to take Hunwick. Not saying that was what happened with Sheary, but just an example.

If word spread, and it would, about how an organization purposely thwarted young players to save cap no one would ever sign with the team in good faith again. I believe Babcock, or someone, has said he will be playing with Matthews and I’m sure that was a huge part of the pitch for him signing with the Leafs. To go back on your word would be a really bad look for the Leafs.

Edit: I tried to look for Babcock saying it but I must’ve imagined it. Either way, he will get a taste of playing with Tavares or Matthews while Hyman is on IR.

It was Mr Phill Kessel hotdog originator himself, Steve Simmons who said he thinks Mikheyev will play with Matthews and it blew up from there. There has been no official anything to my knowledge

One name to remember, Miro Aaltonen, he came to the Leafs believing the 4th line center was a lock for him, than the Leafs added D. Moore and E. Fehr and Miro went to the minors, even after being on the Calder Cup winning team, he has no interest with the Leafs after that broken promise.
