Benson starts the year as the #2LW based on the team having no other options, Jones warrants bottom-pairing minutes now. Benning trade can happen right away for all I care: it'd be interesting to see more of Marner's leverage slide out from under him. Everything else happens at the deadline and the old farts (plus Marody) from Bakersfield come up.

If Ceci doesn't play like a bag of horse sh*t and the Toronto trade is early enough, see if some sucker of a GM is willing to part with a 4th Round Pick either this year or next and retain 50% on the guy and yeet him into the distance. Call Manning back up and give Persson some regular minutes: I'd so much rather Bouchard just dummied the AHL and got a chance to win again this season than play in a few NHL games.

Initially, I thought about bringing up the rookies expected to make the team next year instead of the waivers fodder: the combination of a winning culture in California, Yamamoto's wrist injury still needing some degree of rehab, and the opportunity to play bigger minutes in the AHL had me reconsider.
