Honks

Created by: hdd23
Team: 2019-20 Anaheim Ducks
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 14, 2019
Published: Sep. 14, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
It would never happen, but an 8 by 11 McAvoy offer sheet is actually possible with this team. We could also ship Sprong and Ritchie to someone for a RHD. Buffalo or Carolina? There is flexibility here even with the potential signing of Honka.

Surely there are possibilities for offer sheets (McAvoy or Carlo) or trades (Honka or Juulsen) that would bolster the Anaheim right side. I sure wish Murray would take a shot at one of them, especially now that the extended-Spurgeon wet dream is gone.

Can't offersheet McAvoy. And even if there's one on Carlo, we would match.

How did I forget that? I even corrected a guy the other day who said that I couldn't offer sheet Carlo by saying You're thinking of McAvoy. Senior moment, I guess.

I didn't see your response to the two recent posts offer-sheeting Carlo (one of which was mine). You sure you'd match $6.333 for him when you also have McAvoy to sign?

First of all, Carlo would not sign it. That will do it.

Why are you so adamantly convinced that Carlo wouldn't sign it? It's McAvoy that's the hometown Beaner boy, not Carlo. And he'll have a bigger chance to be a star in a much bigger market in Los Angeles.

You'd match 6.3M on Carlo. You'd be screwed signing McAvoy and be forced to pay to move someone off roster. McAvoy would want at least 8M if Carlo gets matched at 6.3M. Don't see it, even at 5.5 I think BOS has a long hard think.

I agree, but what can Bob do? Carlo isn't getting OS'd. That's just not BM's game. Despite his former #1st round status, Honka isn't a good player and that is unlikely to change, so no point pursuing him. Faulk doesn't want to play in ANA. Spurgeon is now signed. Not a lot of options really.

I guess a deal for Risto could be made.

Your absolute statements like "Carlo would not sign it" make you sound like a delusional fan. Shame, you've come across as fairly level-headed up to this point.

why would I waste my time thinking about something that would not happen. Not only he wouldn't sign but think about that, offer sheets never happen. Aho one, yeah I know... he used the Habs to sign with the Canes earlier, that's not a real " offer sheet ".

When it happens, let me know and then we'll discuss otherwise no time to waste.

Maybe a Larsson or Mahura for Juulsen deal?

Yeah, it's too bad Murray won't offer-sheet Carlo. But I can dream.

I just did a fast cruise through the last 15 Boston posts. Only two went above $4MM for Carlo ($4.25 and $4.5), and one had McAvoy at $5 and main point of the other was a Laine trade for 5 players, 2 firsts and 2 seconds, so you can guess what I think of that opinion.

LMFAO! "when do offersheets happen?" *thinks for a while* "oh... well....ermmm.... Aho wasn't a real offersheet because...." *thinks for a while* "it was ultimately matched, so it doesn't matter". Hahahahaha! Hilarious!

Carlo would absolutely sign a $6.3M contract. It's a massive overpay and way more than what BOS wants to sign him for. Carlo is 22, you think he cares more about staying in BOS than money. Wake up! No way any 22 year old with only another 14 years left to make as much money as possible before his career is over is turning down $3M+ extra to stay loyal to BOS. Only a delusional fanboy would think he would. What is even more funny is that you clearly know he would sign it and can't make a logical argument as to why he wouldn't so you just say "it won't happen anyway" to avoid having to make that argument... lol.

If I am wasting so much of your precious time, you have the option not to respond or engage.

Don't you just love guys who pontificate absolutely about the future as if they have crystal balls? I think we should ask him for stock tips . . . or maybe Powerball number predictions.

I don't think BOS gets Carlo and McAvoy under their current cap. There is just no way. They are going to have to move someone. McAvoy could ask for $8M alone. He may not get it, but I'd stand pat if I was him. He, along with Dahlin and Heisk, is one of the most dynamic and mature young D-men in the league and is absolutely worth that kind of money. I mean, Ekblad got 7.5M a few years ago now. Meanwhile, Provorov just signed for 6.75M and I think McAvoy is better (although Provorov is a beast). Even if BOS give McAvoy the same deal as Provorov, they'll have no money to sign Carlo. Sure, they'll be able to move a few players around, but I don't see Carlo signing for $3-ish mil. He's worth at least $4M.

It is so childish. I mean, if it was a trade for Crosby or Ovi I would understand, but this is Carlo. He's not a GOAT and is totally going to take the money ahead of remaining loyal. Why wouldn't he?

If they can put Miller or Moore on LTIR, then they'll have between $11.25 and $11.5 to spend on both defensemen. McAvoy at a home-town-discount $6MM leaves enough, but then somebody has to be moved once the injured player comes off the LTIR. Offering Carlo $5.25MM (my figure) really stretches the Bruins; your figure puts them over the top.

I like the idea of adding Honka, but daaaamn where'd that signing come from? 3 x 2.1 for a guy who has barely ever cracked the lineup with his current club? Do you know something I don't? Because that seems like a massive overpay
