So stupid of teams to play guys in meaningless preseason games. Especially when you have the young guys on the roster. 1-2 games all the pros need. Instead players taking beatings.

It's a tryout, Poehling wasn;t guaranteed a spot on the roster, the coaching staff need a large enough sample size to determine if he is ready for the NHL or not. 1-2 games is suitable for veteran players that are a lock to make the team like Domi, Gallagher, Tatar...etc

he's not a tryout. He's a signed 1st round pick and the roster spot was his to lose basically. He played well, he played well in his game last year. He's shown he deserves to play at that level.
Given he's not an NHL regular yet, he's still earning it. But it gets down to the point of people getting injured in meaningless games. Much like Buffalo losing their top 4 blue liner needlessly.
