In a perfect world I would like to see sandin take his 9 games. Not being able to slide his contract in its both sandin and Lilly up for new deals the same season. I would like to see a trade involving Hyman for mayfield. This would be the perfect scenario.

The issue with Sandin isn't so much the slide ELC, it's whether it is good enough to play 14 minutes every game for 82 games. Preseason is just preseason. Leafs have other vets who might have to proof they aren't NHL good enough in order for then Leafs take a chance on Sandin at least October 1st.

Marincin looked good last game. I still say he might be OK if given regular time. Right now he's my choice as the 3rd right side Dman.

He still has a lot to prove against NHL competition over the remainder of the preseason. I just wrote a blog on Medium where I suggested that the most likely scenario is that he will get a taste of the NHL (under 10 games) and then head back to develop more on the Marlies. I see that Babcock issued his main roster for Sept 25 and the third pair is Sandin - Marincin. Let's see how they do.
