Why not give Volkov a chance? With Point and Paquette out for at least a couple of games there is roster space. He has more upside then Smith or Witkowski.

Disappointed Volkov sent down .. if we have same stupid philosophy of keeping marginal role players we will lose again.. best thing for Tampa is a 10 - 10 - 5 start .. only way the crap head leadership will make needed changes

He did not have to be sent down. Just put Point and Paquette on IR.

Volkov probably sent down for 2 reasons: He was injured and missed almost last week of camp, probably not best idea to bring half-healthy rookie to make debut AND then he needs to play top 6 minutes if he's going to be up or Top 9 at the very least. No sense in bringing him up to play with 4th line. Verhaeghe had good camp so Volkov pushed out due to injury, he'll probably first call-up

Good point .. he top 6 or bust .. but we need to play the kids NOW .. got 6 forwards who are role players at best
