Moving Kapanen

Description
Couple thoughts here. Once Hyman and Dermott are back, the leafs can only have one scratch and it would have to be their cheapest player. A lot of this depends on what Babcock thinks of Sandin.

Personally, I love this deal. I think Kempe is underrated. He's too fast for the rest of the lineup in LA so he hasn't impressed. In TO he'd actually play with guys who can keep up.

Thinking about it would LA change 3rd to Walker?

Toronto / LA deal seems fine but I don’t think they’ll add something as high as a third along with Kempe for Kapanen. Both plays are of almost equal value, Kempe on a much better contract as well.

Kapanen has one full season under his belt which was better than the best season from Kempe who regressed last year, I am not sure there is an argument that they are equal unless this early season 4 game slide is used to drastically change value, which of course is both silly and exactly who people think on here.

yeah but Kempe doesn't have the elite skill set that Kapenen does when killing penalties

Kempe played 3rd line minutes in a defensive role on a horrendous ‘19 Kings team. Put him in Kapanen’s spot and he’ll probably end up putting up numbers a tad lower than Kapanen’s while displaying better defense.

I have zero idea if that is a chirp or an opinion. It could easily be either.

Kapanen is considered a solid defensive player. I am not sure you know much about the players who are talking about.

chirp and an opinion. Kapenen's elite PK skills will win the opposing team a lot of goals.

So......throwing broken sticks at opposing defenceman is elite penalty killing? The Boston series? Hardly elite PK skills. He's fast and thats all a lot of people see.

I would probably do the trade one for one. Kapanen has proven more (likely because of linemates), and Kempe has a better contract. No entirely sure if LA has incentive to do this though, other than Kapanen probably being a bit better player.

in all seriousness, kapenen needs the puck to play well, but his line mates think of him as a 2nd thought. imo hyman would fit better there. and its not like kapenen's line mates have been good 5v5. they werent aht good against mtl, but they were a bit better against stlouis
