I would honestly say there is a 0% chance of this happening. They have virtually the same production. The Bruins would need to get back a 1st.
Eriksson will cost 10,666,668 over 4 years with Cap hits of 5.66m nad 3.66m in the first two years.
Backes will cost 5m over 2 years with Cap hits of 4m and 1m.

There is literally no reason to do this for the Bruins. You are not getting a better player and you are lengthening a bad contract - salary retained or not.

Also - Vancouver can't afford this with Miller, they will be over.

Again, this draws out a bad contract an extra two years for no reason. Backes is on the Bruins until next season when they buy him out*. They are not going to give up an asset or take on a worse contract to make him go away. He still has some use, albeit way overpaid.

Also - He's not going to agree to go to Vancouver. Vanvcouver cannot afford.

*small chance he is dealt at deadline, but they won't give up much to do it. Any team trading for him would buy him out next year when he makes next to nothing, so it would be for 20 games. Only way it happens is as a sweetener.

I doubt this would happen, but I'd be happy if it did.

I guess Boston would be hoping to the 30 goal scoring Eriksson back which is what they had before. Even if he scores half as much that would be decent.

It's not. Not including this year cause neither has a goal. Since Loui signed in Vancouver he has 32 goals. Backes has 38. Backes has 15 more points in the same time period. Backes has 500 more hits.
