trade with Hawks

Created by: bishopsdad
Team: 2019-20 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 25, 2019
Published: Oct. 25, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I saw the reports saying Perlini wants out and I read an excellent article on The Athletic about next year's crop of potential UFAs. A top name mentioned was Gustafsson, who would seem to be just what the Habs need.

I am wondering what Hawks fans think would be a fair price for both of them?

Obviously the Hawks cannot take back any salary b/c they're up against the cap. I am also told they're set on defensive prospects (hence why EG might be moveable now). How does a replacement bottom 6 winger, a prospect and a conditional pick sound? (Conditional on the Habs resigning EG, that is.) Habs would have to send a contract back - not just futures - because they're already sitting at 48. I picked Weal b/c he's cheapest and I figure that the Hawks will need to save a little money for EG's replacement call up. I probably could be talked into any 4th line guy.
Trades
CHI
  1. Weal, Jordan ($700,000 retained)
  2. 2021 2nd round pick (MTL)
Additional Details:
Jesse Ylonen

2021 2nd round pick becomes a 2021 first round pick if the Habs resign Gustafsson before the start of the 2020-2021 season.

That condition doesn't work. The Hawks could draft a player with the 2020 2nd Round Draft Pick, and then sign Gustafsson in August (still prior to the 2020-2021 season). Because they already made their pick, there would be no draft pick to transfer. Make it a 2021 2nd Round Draft Pick instead, and the pick conditions are possible.

I have had a long day already and that was a stupid mistake on my part. Thanks for catching it. I'll edit the post after I hit the coffee machine up.

All good. I completely understand your struggles. Haven't had a Friday feel like a Monday in a long time, but that's what my day is like. Grab some coffee and power through.

Remove the first-rounder, theres no chance they resign him next year so theyre losing him this way they at least get something before hes gone.

It's only a 1st if he resigns. Otherwise it's a second. Perlini and Weal cancelling each other out, it's a prospect and a second for a rental, which seems like decent market value.

I'm saying you don't need to add the conditional.
Why not try and resign him

Bad trade for MTL, Ylonen vs Gustafsson is fair but I wouldn’t do it. Gustafsson is sooo bad defensively
