Probably because oilers are undefeated with Persson in the line up, but yes, we have a lot of D and drafted another one this year.

Manning is left D and Bear is right D, Benning has been not to bad this year as well, but yes its between Bear and Benning and Holland always picks veterans first. Not my choice anyway. Someone will probably get hurt again!

No it's not. Bear has been the Oilers best defenseman this year, Tippett has been mainly keeping Benning on the 3rd pair. When Larsson comes back it won't affect the Nurse-Bear pairing at all.

I think that's too much to give up for Hall, even if he were to sign a reasonable extension immediately. Look at the Stone trade and you'll see what I mean.

It is kind of the same actually now that I am looking it up, Brannstrom 1st round, Lindberg 2nd round, and a 2nd round pic. If Oilers add Hall it will be late picks in each round anyways, I would just like to see one of those pics in the 2021 draft, because this draft is awesome!

Oscar Lindberg is a 28-year-old minor leaguer, he certainly doesn't carry the value of a 2nd rounder. And they didn't re-sign him so he's gone to play in Europe as a UFA. Zero value there - just a warm body.

AND, Stone had agreed to sign an extension with Vegas prior to the trade, there's no suggestion of Hall doing the same in the scenario above.

I like how the pick Vegas sent was a 2020 pick, that lines up with your suggestion to send a 2021 2nd instead of a 2020.

trading for Hall is stupid. Your giving up future prospects which the oilers need as well all your cap space next year.
Would be much smarter to actually use that 9-11 million where ever he falls on 2-3 good wingers that can play with Mcdavid, Dri, or Nuge.
The team would actually have some depth then. something it has not had in years.

At least we know Hall puts up mega points and he would have to have a reasonable extension, or he can kick rocks too, done before the trade. Also poor Nuge always plays with **** and he needs at least one decent winger.. What is the percentage of 2nd round picks working out, I dont think its very high, mind you Oilers 2nd round picks work out better than our 1st round picks

25% of 2nd round picks have a 200 game NHL career.

But Hall doesn't score mega points - he's had 1 very good year in his entire 8.5 year career.

Looks like the growing up helped, he was going to have a good year last year and is having a good year this year besides his poor defense/goaltending team, He averages 29 goals a year and in the nhl today that is pretty dam good. Sorry i am a hall fan and would love him back, a little biased

Actually he's averaged 23.5 goals per season, not 29. And he's averaged just 59.5 points per season, yet people are talking about him getting $10M+ which is crazy. Especially when you consider he'll be declining over his next contract.

I did 204 divided by 574 equals .3554007 times 82 games equals 29.1428571 goals per season........ am i doing something wrong?
and 74 points per season and yes 10 million per year is crazy also due to his health, 8 million should be a good number

That's the "per 82", not the "per season". He misses about 20 games per season on average. If you're signing a player to a long-term contract, this is vital information.
