its not all on jones. defense is playing like they have never played a game with a professional athlete before. and hes "cost controlled" but not really... mitch marner was "cost controlled" vasilevsky was "cost controlled". Its all relative. If you put Georgiev in net for this sharks team, i bet you would get similar results honestly. Sharks just arent that good this year.

Yeah I don’t think Georgiev’s next contract is going to be even remotely close to Vasilevsky or Marner’s contract so it’s legitimately an advantage. And the Sharks may be awful but have you watched the Rangers at all this year? Their team defense has been pretty bad. Outside of point production they hemorrhage shots nightly so I’m not sure it’d be that much of a difference.

I mean Grubauer cost a 2nd even AFTER taking on Orpik's contract. Marleau just got bought out for a 2020 1st making 7.5% cap hit. Orpik was making 6.9% cap hit when traded.

I mean right now his value is 2 2nds or a low 1st. By the end of the year with 30 more starts under his belt, we might be looking at Cory Schneider territory.

The main issue is that sanjose doesnt have anything nyr is looking for currently. They need a 2nd line center or good LD thats 24-26 range or top end prospect which sanjose really only have merkley but he doesnt hold much value with all the shenanigans that went through to start the year.
