he isn’t killing it. he’s putting up points. still doesn’t drive play or play defense. copp is still the better player.
zone starts don't mean much, the vast majority of shifts are started on the fly anyway, and +/- shows exactly nothing about Copp's defensive ability, it shows that WPG's defense sucks, and that he generally is trusted to be matched up against other team's "scoring lines"

There was some article last year that said zone starts were a pretty good proxy for quality of competition, because most teams put their skilled guys out in the offensive zone, so even though shifts start any time, zone starts show you how a coach uses a guy. Copp is playing sheltered minutes this year and not doing great. Kuznetsov is playing all situations and doing okay, plus getting more points.
He's been through a lot and he's certainly got some baggage now, so I'm not sure anyone is valuing him based on the playoff stats I linked above, but he seems to be doing well as a 2nd line center this year.
