How the Kings can become contenders in 2 or 3 years

Created by: gokingsgo33
Team: 2021-22 Los Angeles Kings
Initial Creation Date: Nov. 11, 2019
Published: Nov. 11, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Lafreniere(If picked), Turcotte, Vilardi would have to pan out and turn into the players we all think they will.

JAD I could see being a modern day Jaret Stoll with more offensive upside.

Kings would have to sign Krug and trade for a shut down guy like Mayfield to pair with him.

I can see Walker turning into a 30+ point guy even on the 3rd pair.

Petersen by this time will be even better than the short time he was on the Kings(which was incredible)
With that really good contending blue line, Quick can make a really good backup goalie for Petersen and to support him through a cup run.
Defensive depth, goaltending depth, a very skilled offensive forward lineup, which MIGHT need additional depth pieces at the deadline for a cup run.

Kopitar is 1 point shy of being a point per game player right now and Doughty and Brown are doing good as well with 10 points and with this supporting cast they will do even better.

Extremely lopsided trades (drouin mainly and Mayfield kinda, but idk if you’ll get a 2nd for Ilya at all, but certainly not from NYI, they have enough waste of space old guys they’re waiting to get rid of)

Bruins accept. Isles might bite on the Kovi deal, not the other one. Everyone else says no.

I just made a post asking NYI fans about Mayfield. Drouin , I agree with you. It looked a lot better in my head, but I stuck with it lol. As far as Kovalchuk he has 9 points being played on the 3rd and 4th line with 14-15 minutes of ice time. Which is actually good if you think ab out it. He was doing really good in the beginning of the season when he was on the 2nd line, he was almost a point per game player. Might be worth it for NYI especially if they make the playoffs.

          Do Kovalchuk Barzal Eberle or
          Lee Barzal Eberle
Kovalchuk Nelson Bailey and I know he'll do really good.

MTL would need at least an A level prospect and 1st round pick to move Drouin. Another option would be a player of similar value in return. This isn't close to enough.

Also, he's had a hot start this season and is unlikely to be traded at this point since the Habs are trying to make the playoffs.

I Would love tHat toffoli trade!! And yeah I highly highly doubt kovi gets that return, unless he has close to 20 goals.

Kovalchuk has 9 points while being put on the 3rd and 4th line playing 14-15 minutes a game. In the beginning of the season he was almost a point per game player while he was on the 2nd line. If a team interested in him wants the best out of him they need to play him in the top 6. Although the return is questionable, I have no doubt a team willing to gamble on him will be happy with the outcome.

The return was what I was questioning. I have no doubt if kovi puts up decent numbers at deadline someone will want him.

Kings head coach is playing him on the 4th line. He won't put up as many numbers as we all hoped. A team will have to gamble on him. If he puts up 30-40+ points I think that return is fair. Mostly because of the salary retention.
