Krug

Initial Creation Date: Nov. 13, 2019
Published: Nov. 13, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I would offer Krug 8M for 7 years. If he turns that down I would have no problem giving him 8.25M for 7 years. If it came down to 8.5M for 7 years I would do it. Hopefully not that high though, but Blake really needs to try and get this guy. Visnovsky 2.0

Totally fair offer, probably even a bit of an overpay, but it really sounds like Krug values winning. I’m guessing he would get offers that are in that same ballpark from better teams, and he would likely choose one of them. If he’s going to a crap team, it’s probably Detroit.

Well in Free Agency you almost have to overpay to get a player like that bc there are multiple other teams competing to get him.
Maybe he likes the LA lifestyle? LA actually has a lot of pull when it comes to free agents bc its LA lol. Regardless of how bad we are.
Also what winning team has an additional 8.5M to spend on a dman that is in the market for a player like that?
Do you think Boston will be able to afford to resign him if he wants that kind of money?

He loves Boston, they love him. My guess he signs with B’s for 5-6 years for 7 to 7.5.

Yes. I also think if 8.5 is his price tag in LA, it’s probably much lower in boston. In terms of after tax earnings, 8.5 in LA is about the same as 7 in Boston. Factor in that they can give him the extra year, and they have a winning team where he and his family already live, and I think it’s probably more like 9 to get him to go to LA, if Boston won’t go to 7.

If I’m Krug I’d rather take slightly less in Boston than sign this with LA. Their taxes are also even worse than Boston’s.

Yeah there's no way Krug is signing with LA, There's a strong report out of Detroit that if he leaves Boston he's heading home to Detroit. Strong connection with Jeff Blashill plus a Livonia, Michigan native and his Wife is from Michigan as well. He'll head home to Detroit if he doesn't resign back with Boston which i think he will.

Keep dreaming.

You're the one dreaming here pal, If you honestly believe that Krug would sign with LA. He'll sign with Detroit before LA that's for sure.
