The Rangers. Seabrook's biggest issue is the term and how little the savings on a buyout generate.

Management may never trade Seabrook because of yada yada...but if we were offered a trade like this we would easily add some picks or prospects.

The Hawks wouldn't add what other teams would be asking though. They aren't "there" yet.

Toronto turned around and gave up their 2020 1st Round Pick because the expectation was that it was going to be pick #25 or later. The Blackhawks are projecting to finish with a top-10 pick. I don't think a 2nd Round Pick and a B-prospect gets this done, that's just not what teams want in return for taking an 8-year buyout. Even a guy with an expensive enough deal like Marc Staal still has more utility than Seabrook, and the buyout penalty is nothing in comparison to Brent's.

If this is Seabrook's last year in the NHL, it'll probably be because Chicago bought him out. The ask - if Chicago isn't willing to part with its 2020 1st - probably starts with the 2020 2nd Round Pick and Alex Nylander, and that's on top of still having to take a salary north of $5M back. The better play is to find a buyer for Smith and Shaw and convince Kubalik and Strome into very short bridge deals with the promise of more to come as the cap rises and Seabrook's anchor of a buyout dissipates.

There's always Milan Lucic though.

With that big of a difference in term, it would be f*cking asinine for NYR to even consider this.
