So is there a reason why Kotkaniemi hasn't been sent to the AHL to grab some better minutes to develop with? Or we just on board with taking the Puljujarvi route here?

I did mean to put Chiarot with Weber, but it must not have saved.

KK was out for 7 games with injury and just got back. This injury was also probably nagging him before, so we only really have a 10 game or so sample size to judge his season on. Also this is completely different from Puljujärvi, since KK speaks great english, and fits into the team very well. He was just in a slump, and they definitely can’t afford to send him down now with the injuries they have.

Assuming the Puljujarvi situation was birthed out of his inability to speak English is incredulously wrong, embarrassing even. The team put him in a lose-lose scenario and wouldnt even pay to get him a tutor. Dumbest f*cling response I've ever gotten on here.

Your teams injuries shouldnt force a 19 year old onto a roster.

Injuries aren’t “forcing him onto the roster”. And I wasn’t implying it was specifically about his inability to speak English. It was mostly Edmonton’s crappy management and coaching that handled him badly. As you say, the team put him in a lose-lose scenario, which is completely ridiculous to compare that to Montreal. The reason people suggested sending Kotkaniemi down is because they’re impatient people that can’t handle a player slumping for a few games to start the season. It would serve KK better to struggle a bit in the NHL than dominate in the AHL.
