Sheary and Scandella are cap dumps. If you added Samuelsson or a B prospect NYR would accept.

Sheary yes but Scandella would help NYs d immediately and that first is already over kill for Krieder. Sheary is only there to help bridge the roster gap for NY

These are rather ugly Shibbal; you can do better than that. Why are we taking a cap dump in any Risto deal. Especially since we are getting squat. I’d rather keep Risto in that case.

Staal is no longer a C and at 2 years I’m not giving a 2nd for him without some lower pick coming back.

The Rangers trade I’d just scrap as we are trading a 1st for a rental and The Sabres aren’t in position to buy rentals

I 1000% disagree with everything you said. When it comes to the Eriksson cap dump, why do you think theyd have to take it on. Plus id like Eriksson around to fill a leadership role. 2 years left, if they need to they can bury or buy him out. Not an issue. Staal has not proven he cant be a 2C any more, especially when he is flanked by 2 talented wingers. Krieder pick is top 10 protected so if they dont perform they dont lose out. If they do perform, then it was worth it to get back on track

Eriksson isn’t looked at fondly by many Canucks fans because he’s not exactly been understanding about his predicament. He’d just be another player past their expiration date clawing to get 10pts a year. Thus a cap dump. Virtanen is an ok player but nothing to really get excited about, plus an RFA at the end of the year. A 3rd round pick is what we traded for Vesey which would mean we traded Risto for a mid tier prospect and a cap dump.

Since departing Carolina Staal has played wing primarily and looked great last year but looks his age a bit more this year. He’s no longer a 2C for anything but the occasional injury fill in. I’d be interested in him as a winger still but I’d want a 4th and 7th in return for the 2nd at least.

It’s the fact Kreider is a rental that scares me off this deal. I don’t care if the pick is lottery protected, either way a 1st is leaving our coffers to get a guy for 60 games barring injury and that is bad asset management

Staal plays center exclusively , so not sure what you are talking about. That said Wild decline this offer.

He played wing when he scored his 40 with MIN however correct? I remember articles about it.

BB is always tinkering with lines, but to the best of my recollection which feels pretty clear, Wild have used Staal as a number 1 center since his arrival.
With his play since the end of October, he is currently playing like a passable number 1 or a very good number 2. How long that last at 35 is anyone's guess.

What a trash deal with Vancouver. And we do not surrender the first round.
